Pretty peaceful woods. I've been here a couple times since one of my friends owns property nearby. I never see people here and I couldn't even tell you where to park or start walking into the woods, but it's definitely a decent woods to be in. Super quiet and not overly dense. I haven't seen a lot of wildlife so I couldn't tell you if it's a good birdwatching area.
It's worth the trip in to get there but it's no different than any other New England woods.
Great place for hiking, picnics, and swimming (if you don't mind ponds)!
